Competent Person Scheme Systems

In operating Borough IT's Competent Person's System (CPS), you can take confidence from the fact you're using the most comprehensive and reliable competent person's scheme IT system available.

How can we be so sure? Quite simply, because Borough IT has set the standard for IT platforms for competent person's schemes. We successfully run CPS for the biggest competent person's schemes in the UK, including FENSA, NAPIT, ELECSA, OFTEC. Indeed, there are more than 20,000 companies – 9,000 of which belong to FENSA alone – currently using Borough IT's CPS.

Functionality

The CPS provides all the functionality you'd possibly need to operate a competent person's scheme, including:

  • Work notification
  • Communications – news and member communications
  • Invoicing and payments
  • Inspections – scheduling, tracking and results recording
  • Administrative and job histories – end-users, supplier organisations and third parties
  • Qualification tracking
  • Flexible and comprehensive payment system
    • Any form of payment from members can be processed, including electronic transfer

A Borough IT CPS provides highly efficient communications with members, ensuring they are up to date with scheme requirement changes. It uses an instant messaging component so that every member must acknowledge receipt of regulatory changes; and also issues reminders on the organisation's requirements, such as renewal of technician's qualifications, an overdue account balance, and any outstanding complaints.

Registration communications

A Borough IT CPS makes it as easy as possible for members to log jobs. Almost any communication method can be used, including: online, via the web (using any browser) or email; mobile devices, such as PDAs; fax; and letters.

All communication is tracked, so no matter what communication method has been used to log a job, a Borough IT CPS will always be able to locate it.

Compliance

The CPS has been designed to minimise red tape. It manages all your compliance requirements and meets all government regulations, including TrustMark and ISO 27001 Information Security Management. It also logs all jobs and automatically notifies the local authority or insurer, so your members spend less time on administration and pay far less for registrations – £1.50 to £5 per transaction, compared to £60 if registered directly with a local authority.

Furthermore, a Borough IT CPS is W3C and WA1 compliant.

This FENSA case study shows how Borough IT implemented a CPS for the organisation, and brought an impressive return on investment, including:

  • A six-figure saving on annual running costs
  • Savings on administration time equating to two full-time employees
  • A reduction in certificate distribution time from three months to between two and four weeks
  • Enhanced record management
